Cornwall PoliceTHREATS, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Silas Benedict, 56 of Cornwall was arrested on December 31st, 2014 and charged with threats to life and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on December 31st, 2014 the man threatened to shoot a 31-year-old man that was known to him in the face. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

ASSAULT CAUSE BODILY HARM

 

Cornwall, ON – Billy Perkins, 20 and Timothy Perkins, 21 both of Cornwall were arrested on January 1st, 2015 and charged with assault cause bodily harm. It is alleged that on December 22nd, 2014 during an argument at the East Court Mall the two men punched and kicked an 18-year-old man that was known to them. The man was taken to the hospital as a result of the assault and police were called to investigate. On January 1st, 2015 the two men attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. They were taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on February 10th, 2015.

 

HARASSMENT

 

Cornwall, ON – Curtis King, 34 of Cornwall was arrested on January 2nd, 2015 and charged with harassment. It is alleged that on January 2nd, 2015 the man continuously knocked on a 51-year-old woman’s door despite having been warned by her to leave her alone. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on February 5th, 2015.

 

 

ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old Cornwall youth and a 14-year-old Akwesasne youth were arrested on January 4th, 2015 and charged with multiple criminal code charges. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of January 4th, 2015 the two intoxicated youths who are known to each other entered into an argument and assaulted each other with a knife. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the two youths were taken into custody. One of the youths was charged with:

·         Assault

·         Assault with a weapon

·         Possess Weapons Dangerous

·         Fail to comply with youth probation order for failing to keep the peace

·         Breach of OIC Undertaking x 2 for failing to keep the peace and being in possession of a knife

While the other youth was charged with:

·         Assault

·         Assault with a weapon

·         Possess Weapons Dangerous

 

Both sustained minor injuries and will appear in court at a later date. Their names were not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

ROBBERY

 

Cornwall, ON – Denis Cote, 36 of Cornwall was arrested on January 4th, 2015 and charged with robbery. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of July 20th, 2013 the man who was being given a ride from Brookdale Avenue to Eleventh Street grabbed the 38-year-old woman driver by the neck, took money from her ashtray and fled. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On January 4th, 2015 the man was spotted in the 400 block of McConnell Avenue by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

ASSAULT, THREATS TO LIFE, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 20-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on January 4th, 2015 and charged with three counts of assault, threats to life and breach of probation and undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that between September, 2014 and January, 2015 the man punched and kicked his 19-year-old girlfriend on three separate occasions and threatened to beat and kill her and her family. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was located at his apartment, taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

 

 

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

 

Cornwall, ON – Jeffrey Waugh, 33 of Cornwall was arrested on January 4th, 2015 and charged with possession of a controlled substance. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of January 4th, 2015 police attended local bar on Thirteenth Street for a disturbance. Once on scene they took the intoxicated man into custody and found him to be in possession of what is believed to be methamphetamine. He was charged accordingly and held in custody.

 

 

HARASSMENT, PUBLIC MISCHIEF

 

Cornwall, ON – A 52-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on January 4th, 2015 and charged with harassment and public mischief. It is alleged that the man had contacted a 54-year-old woman known to him on several occasions and also contacted police on several occasions indicating that the woman required police assistance. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation it was learned that the woman did not need police assistance and the intoxicated man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held in custody.

 

WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on January 5th, 2015 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that between December 12th, 2014 and December 16th, 2014 the man communicated with his 32-year-old ex-common law wife by way of Facebook despite being on conditions not to communicate with her. Police were contacted to investigate and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On January 5th, 2015 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

ASSAULT

 

Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on January 5th, 2015 and charged with assault. It is alleged that during an argument on January 5th, 2015 the man pushed his 26-year-old girlfriend’s head in to the wall and police were contacted to investigate. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

SDG OPP

HARASSMENT

(South Stormont) – On January 4, 2015 at approximately 6:43pm, SD&G OPP received a report of harassment which has occurred at a residence on Ouellette Avenue, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that an adult male had harassed his ex-girlfriend repeatedly since December 27, 2014.

The 50-year-old man, from Cornwall, Ontario was arrested on January 5, 2015 and is charged with;

– Criminal Harassment – Repeatedly Communicate
– Harassing Telephone Calls

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on January 20, 2015.

 

UTTER THREAT

(North Glengarry) – On January 5, 2015 at approximately 2:39pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a threat uttered at a business property on Main Street in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an adult male had uttered a threat to another male.

Martin DUPONT (38) of Alfred-Plantagenet Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Utter Threat

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on March 4, 2015.

 

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION

(South Dundas) – On January 6, 2015 at approximately 2:49am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Second Street, South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult male and his girlfriend resulted in threats uttered to the female and other individuals. The accused also caused damage within the home.

The 24-year-old man was arrested and is charged with;

– Utter Threats (3 counts)
– Mischief Under $5000 – Domestic

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on January 20, 2015.

 

IMPAIRED DRIVER – DRUGS SEIZED

(South Glengarry) – On January 5, 2015 at approximately 9:56pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of an erratic driver on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The vehicle was intercepted and investigation indicated the adult female driver was under the influence of alcohol. A quantity of suspected marihuana and methamphetamine pills were also seized from the vehicle.

Jade LAHAIE (28) of Montreal, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Driving a Motor Vehicle with More Than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood
– Possession of a Controlled Substance (2 counts)

She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on February 4, 2015.

 

THEFT OF BOAT

(South Glengarry) – On January 5, 2015, SD&G OPP began an investigation into a reported theft of a boat from a storage facility on 80th Avenue, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that between December 15, 2014 and January 5, 2015, stolen was a 2013 – 33’ Chaparral Cabin Cruiser, white/black, with two (2) 2013 Mercury V8 outdrive engines. On the watercraft “ALEGRIA” was inscribed.
