ALAN JONES Charged by OPP After Truck Loses Wheels on 401 JUNE 24, 2016

TRACTOR TRAILER LOSES TIRES ON HWY 401

(LANSDOWNE, ON) – On June 22nd, 2016 a member of the Ontario Provincial Police East Region Highway Enforcement Team (ER-H.E.T) responded to an incident where a tractor trailer unit lost a set of wheels from its trailer while travelling eastbound on Hwy 401 at Reynolds Road, near Lansdowne, ON.

The set of wheels detached from the trailer, the two wheels then separated, crossed the median and came to rest in the westbound lanes of Hwy 401. No collision occurred.

The driver of the tractor trailer unit, continued travelling, stopped at a service center in Mallorytown and was then located by police parked at a truck stop in Johnstown, ON, approximately 60 kilometeres away from the location of the wheels detaching.

The driver, 65 year old Alan JONES of Milton, was issued is a Provincial Offences Notice fine of $390.00 for Driver Commercial Motor Vehicle With Major Defect, under the Highway Traffic Act.

Investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending.
