POLICE CHARGE PETAWAWA MAN WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENCES
(PEMBROKE, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (Upper Ottawa Valley) and the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit (CSEU) have arrested and charged an 18-year old Petawawa man following a two week investigation.
On April 5, 2017 officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP detachment began an investigation into the posting of non- consensual images on a social media site. Due to the nature of the investigation and the content of the images the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit was requested to assist with the investigation.
On April 16, 2017, an 18 year old Petawawa man was arrested and charged with possession of Child Pornography, distribution of Child Pornography, transmitting Child Pornography, making and distributing obscene material. The accused appeared at a bail hearing and was later released from custody and is next scheduled to appear on April 25, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke, Ontario.
Investigators are not releasing the accused name to protect the identity of the victim.
The investigation is continuing.
