Freezing rain continues this morning.
Freezing rain will continue for a few hours this morning, with ice accumulation of 5 to 10 millimetres likely in most areas.
Untreated surfaces will be icy and slippery as a result of the freezing rain. The morning commute to work will be affected by this freezing rain event.
Freezing rain will come to an end near midday, with patchy freezing drizzle or drizzle expected this afternoon as temperatures struggle to get to just above the zero degree mark.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas. Road closures are possible. Utility outages may occur.
Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
Today I understand! 1st snow day this year that is actually warranted!
Cancel most buses for good and spend the savings on classrooms and teachers.
Ontario school transportation costs are nearing $1 billion dollars/year, largely for buses parked 18 hrs/day, plus weekends and summers — add the irony that buses and drivers are more stringently regulated, tested and examined than students — and now a $60 million dollar handout to the bus lobby to pay minimum wages.
