SD&G OPP NEWS
(STORMONT DUNDAS & GLENGARRY, ON) – The SD&G Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating several incidents after responding to 181 calls for service from Tuesday October 23, 2018 to Monday October 29, 2018.
Among these occurrences, SD&G OPP responded to:
– 28 Motor Vehicle collision
– 32 calls for Police assistance
– 17- 911 calls
– 25 traffic complaints
– 12 Traffic enforcement occurrence’s
– 2 RIDE Programs
– 1 neighbour dispute
– 7 Traffic hazards
– 4 Domestic disputes
– 6 thefts
– 2 Mischief calls
– 1 sudden death investigation
– 1 suspicious activity call
– 9 mental health calls
– 4 break and enter
– 2 animal complaints
– 3 family disputes
– 4 community service calls
– 5 warrant calls
IMPAIRED DRIVER
(SOUTH DUNDAS, ON) – On October 23, 2018 at approximately 12:03am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers conducted a traffic stop on County Road 8 in South Dundas Township. The investigation revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Trevor BRADFORD (32) of South Dundas was arrested and is charged with;
– Care or control of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired
– Care or control of a Motor Vehicle with over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood
He was released and is scheduled to appear in Morrisburg Court November 13, 2018.
BREAK IN
(SOUTH STORMONT, ON) – On October 24, 2018 at approximately 7:11am, Stormont, Dundas &Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a break in at a business on South Branch Road, South Stormont, Ontario. Investigation indicated that sometime overnight culprit(s) entered the business and removed alcohol and a welder from the location.
STOLEN VAN
(NORTH STORMONT, ON) – On October 25, 2018 at approximately 9:08pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft of a Van from a Business on Union Street, North Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that culprit(s) stole a 2005 White GMC Savana (Ontario plate – AV78029) from the property.
An investigation continues.
DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION
(SOUTH STORMONT, ON) – As a result of a Domestic investigation conducted by members of the Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police, a 43-year-old female resident of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested on October 26, 2018. The female assaulted her husband.
The 43-year-old female of Cornwall, Ontario faces charges of:
– Assault
She was held in custody (bail) and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
The name of the accused is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION
(NORTH DUNDAS, ON) – As a result of a Domestic investigation conducted by members of the Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police, a 56-year-old male resident of North Dundas, Ontario was arrested on October 28, 2018. The male assaulted his ex-girlfriend multiple times.
The 56-year-old male of North Dundas, Ontario faces charges of:
– Assault ( 2 counts)
– Assault with a weapon
He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on November 13, 2018.
The name of the accused is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
MULTIPLE CHARGES AT TRAFFIC STOP
(NORTH GLENGARRY, ON) – On October 28, 2018 at approximately 11:40pm, a Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer intercepted a vehicle while conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 417, North Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the male driver falsely identifying himself. Further investigation revealed the male was in contravention of previous release conditions.
The male driver, Cleef-Ford BENOIT-ADAM (31) of Longueil, Quebec was arrested and charged with;
– Fail To comply with probation order (2 counts)
– Fail to comply with Undertaking
– Obstruct peace officer
He was released from custody and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on December 5, 2018.
WARRANT EXECUTED – WEAPONS AND PROPERTY SEIZED
(NORTH DUNDAS, ON) On October 25, 2018, members of the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Emergency Response Team (ERT) and SD&G OPP officers executed a Criminal Code Search Warrant at a property on Timmins Road, North Dundas Township. This resulted in the seizure of multiple power tools, ammunition, crossbows and air pistol handgun.
Philip MOYES (37) of North Dundas, Ontario was arrested and charged with;
– Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
– Fail to comply with conditions of a recognizance (4 counts)
He was released and scheduled to appear in Morrisburg court on December 4, 2018.
A female was also arrested at the location on a warrant from Ottawa Police Service,
Misty HAMELIN (37) of North Dundas, Ontario was taken into custody and transported to Ottawa Police Service.
