School buses are not on the roads today due to extreme cold and Windchill according to the STEO website.
The area is digging out after a rare mix of low temperatures and snow.
Reports are coming in that City Works in Cornwall gets a great rating on how it handled this extreme weather incident.

- Cornwall – Lancaster
- Maxville – Alexandria
- Morrisburg – Long Sault
- Winchester – Newington
Wind chill values of minus 35 to minus 40 continue this morning.
Wind chill values will moderate somewhat this afternoon to near minus 30. Tonight temperatures will once again fall to near minus 25 and with light winds, wind chill values are expected to be near minus 35.
A milder air mass will begin to move in Tuesday.
Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.
Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.
If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.
Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
