SD&G OPP NEWS
(STORMONT DUNDAS & GLENGARRY, ON) – The SD&G Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating several incidents after responding to 430 calls for service from Thursday June 18, 2020 to Thursday June 25, 2020.
Among these occurrences, SD&G OPP responded to:
– 24 motor vehicle collisions
– 50 calls for Police assistance/information
– 11- 911 calls
– 45 traffic complaints
– 21 traffic hazards
– 16 Traffic enforcement occurrences
– 18 Domestic disputes
– 9 thefts
– 12 suspicious activity calls
– 6 family disputes
– 3 mental health calls
– 9 alarms
– 4 Assault calls
– 3 threat calls
– 5 Fraud calls
– 5 Mischief calls
– 7 neighbour disputes
– 7 RIDE Checks
– 4 sudden death investigations
– 4 weapon calls
– 5 Animal complaints
– 3 Landlord Tenant act calls
– 8 trespass to property calls
– 5 break and enters
– 5 community service calls
– 5 drug related calls
– 4 harassment calls
– 2 sexual assault complaints

RESIST ARREST
(NORTH GLENGARRY,ON) – On June 22, 2020 at approximately 12:36 pm, a Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer conducted a traffic stop for a highway traffic act violation on County Road 34 in North Glengarry Township. The officers attempted to de-escalate the situation as the individual became aggressive with the officer. The individual then refused to follow officer’s directions and resisted the officer during the arrest. The individual was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.
Philippe BOURGON (age 40) from North Glengarry, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Resist Peace Officer
– Possession of a controlled substance
– Fail to wear a proper helmet on power-assisted bicycle (Highway Traffic Act)
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria September 2, 2020.
MULTIPLE CHARGES LAID
(SOUTH DUNDAS,ON) – On June 20, 2020 at approximately 8:46 a.m, a Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer responded to a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 31, South Dundas Township. The driver if the vehicle fail to remain with the vehicle but was located by officers a short distance away. The driver was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and the vehicle was stolen. Further investigation revealed the driver was also wanted for several other offence including another stolen vehicle incident from the previous weeks in North Dundas Township. (Stole a Township of North Dundas Township pick-up truck, which was recovered following a collision and abandoned.) The driver was aslo breaching previous release conditions.
The driver, Roxanne HANSON (age 21) of North Dundas Township, Ontario was arrested and charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance
– Theft over $5000
– Break and enter
– Possession of property obtained by crime – under $5000
– Take motor vehicle without consent
– Fail to comply with conditions of a probation order ( 20 counts)
– Fail to remain (Highway Traffic Act)
The driver was held in custody and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
WEAPONS CHARGE LAID
(SOUTH GLENGARRY, ON) – On June 20, 2020 at approximately 1:12 p.m, a Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer responded to a weapons call on Concession Road 7, South Glengarry Township. The investigation revealed an adult was target shooting in the area in an unsafe direction.
A 49 year -old male of South Glengarry, Ontario was arrested and charged with;
– Careless use of Firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition.
The accused was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on September 2, 2020.
ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON – DOMESTIC
(NORTH GLENGARRY,ON) – On June 20, 2020 at approximately 8:17 p.m Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of domestic situation in North Glengarry Township. Investigation revealed that an adult accused had assaulted the victim with a weapon.
A 26-year-old accused of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Assault with a weapon
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on August 4, 2020.
IMPAIRED DRIVER
(SOUTH DUNDAS, ON) – On June 20, 2020 at approximately 9:04 p.m, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a traffic complaint on County Road 2 in South Dundas Township.
Investigation revealed that the adult driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Roland SIMON (age 53) of Ottawa, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Operation while Impaired – alcohol
– Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration – plus 80
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg court on September 1, 2020.
ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON – DOMESTIC
(NORTH DUNDAS,ON) – On June 21, 2020 at approximately 4:10p.m Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of domestic situation in North Dundas Township. Investigation revealed that an adult accused had assaulted the victim with a weapon.
A 31-year-old accused of North Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Assault with a weapon
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on August 18, 2020.
CHARGES LAID
(NORTH DUNDAS,ON) – As a result of a sexual assault investigation conducted by members of the Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police, a 47year-old resident of Ottawa, Ontario was arrested on June 23, 2020. Investigation indicated the male had sexually assaulted an adult female known to him.
The 47-year old male resident of Ottawa, Ontario faces charges of:
– Sexual Assault
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg court on September 1, 2020.
The name of the accused is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
IMPAIRED DRIVER
(NORTH DUNDAS, ON) – On June 21, 2020 at approximately 9:43 p.m, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a trespass complaint on Church Road in North Dundas Township.
Investigation revealed that the adult driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Nicholas NYENTAP (age 22) of Russell, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Operation while Impaired – alcohol
– Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration – plus 80
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg court on August 4, 2020.
UPDATE : OPP RESPOND TO BARRICADED PERSON INCIDENT IN IROQUOIS
One Person Arrested, Charges laid
(IROQUOIS, ON) – The Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested one person after an overnight incident in Iroquois in the municipality of South Dundas.
On June 22, 2020, at approximately 11:30 p.m., OPP officers responded to a disturbance at a residence on Dundas Street. As a result of the situation, the OPP Tactics and Response Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT) Canine (K9) and OPP Crisis Negotiators were called in to assist with this incident.
Officers entered the home early this morning and a 35 year old male was taken into custody without incident. The investigation has revealed that several domestic related incidents had occurred within the home.
The 35 year-old male was arrested and charged with;
– Overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle another person
– Mischief ( 10 counts)
– Assault cause bodily harm
– Assault
– Fail to comply with conditions of a undertaking (two counts)
– Killing or injuring animals
The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
FAMILY DISPUTE LEADS TO CHARGES
(NORTH DUNDAS,ON) – On June 24, 2020 at approximately 3:11 p.m Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of family dispute in North Dundas Township. Investigation revealed that an adult male had assaulted another adult male at the location with a weapon. The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A 23 -year-old of North Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Assault cause bodily harm
– Assault with a weapon
– Uttering threats
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg court on September 1, 2020.
The name of the accused is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
EXCESSIVE SPEEDS
(SD&G) – On June 20-24, 2020 Ontario Provincial Police officers conducted speed measuring enforcement in SD&G and intercepted the following vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. The vehicles were impounded and their driver’s permits seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy and were charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).
– June 20, 2020- 1:49am (South Stormont) vehicle stopped traveling 120km/h (50km/h zone) (Highway 138) – 50-year-old driver from Cornwall, Ontario.
– June 21, 2020- 1:15am (North Dundas) vehicle stopped traveling 111km/h (60km/h zone) (Main Street, Winchester) – 29-year-old driver from North Dundas, Ontario.
– June 22, 2020- 7:08 pm (South Glengarry) vehicle stopped traveling 145km/h (80km/h zone) (County Road 34) – 55-year-old driver from North Glengarry, Ontario.
– June 24, 2020- 9:27 am (North Dundas) vehicle stopped traveling 136km/h (80km/h zone) (County Road 31) – 17-year-old driver from Carlsbad Springs, Ontario.
– June 24, 2020- 12:24pm (South Stormont) vehicle stopped traveling 170km/h (100km/h zone) (Highway 401) – 31-year-old driver from Stratford, Ontario.
– June 24, 2020- 7:37pm (South Stormont) vehicle stopped traveling 136km/h (80km/h zone) (Highway 401-construction) – 47-year-old driver from Quebec.
