Project CENDRIER Nabs 16 in One Day Akwesasne Montreal Cocaine Cigs & Marijuana 121217

Cornwall Ontario – The RCMP swooped in and charged 16 people today as they attempt to bust an alleged tobacco smuggling network.

Police are stating that the ring operates mainly out of the Akwesasne territory in NY to Kahnawake via Lac St. François.

The police reported over 150 deliveries by boat were monitored.

The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service, Sûreté du Québec & officers from Montreal, St-Eustache, Longueuil and Thérèse-De Blainville were involved.

Project Cendrier (ASHTRAY in English) has been going on for months, but this has been the largest single day bust and focuses on  large-scale production and trafficking of cannabis, and cocaine in the Valleyfield region.

Since the bridge shut down and clamp down in the Cornwall area, much of the trade has shifted to the Valleyfield area.
