Greetings from Reg Coffey in Daytona Beach Florida – March 22, 2012

CFN – This is the first time that my wife and I have had a vacation for over 5 years and we are really enjoying ourselves. It was just an accident that we ended up in the Daytona Beach area but it was all for the good or actually better than what we had planned. The picture above is the view from our balcony in Ormond-By-The-Sea.

.
We are sleeping in and eating late and walking along the beach every day. The first day here we saw a pod of dolphins just off shore and it was a real thrill to see one of them jumping out of a wave. It was just the encouragement I needed to jump in and get my feet wet, followed by the rest of me. The breaking waves and undertow (riptide?) gives you a good workout and builds up a real thirst. A ten minute walk down the beach there is a local bar which has really fresh draft and good snacks.

.

This is the life that I could get used to. We haven’t even watched the news since we’ve got here (not that there would be any Canadian news here….or even world news for that matter) and our condo doesn’t have internet service. I have to go in search of a Starbucks to file this report and check up on the status of the CFN, but maybe not today. Ignorance is bliss and I want to maintain my bliss for a couple more days.

.

Unfortunately it won’t be long until we have to jump in the car and drive back to the airport for the return trip home. I already have people waiting for some fresh roasted coffee and my dear wife will have to report back to work on Monday.

.

Hopefully you won’t think that I am bragging…..but I am.

.
One more picture before I sign off. This is one of my new best friends.

All that trouble and expense to go down to Daytona Beach this week when you could have stayed home and enjoyed the same weather FOR FREE!
Oh well, there’s always next time.

  2. Glad to hear you are both enjoying your vacation. Swimming with dolphins is quite an experience. Reality awaits you upon your return, we’re all waiting for coffee (or Coffey).
