Cornwall Ontario – The River Kings continue to bolster their roster and have acquired rugged forward/defenceman Maxime Vachon from St-Georges.
Cornwall also receives a 1st round draft pick in exchange for the injured Sasha Pokulok and a 5th round pick at next June’s draft.
“We are thrilled to add Vachon to our lineup,” said General Manager Rick Lalonde. “We’ll primarily use him up front; he’s that big forward we’ve been looking for.”
The 6-foot, 215 lb. Vachon can also be used on the blueline if need be.
Vachon, 27, has 56 penalty minutes in 16 games with the Cool-FM this season, his third in the league.
Pokulok, the River Kings very first draft pick in 2012, is currently sidelined with a lower body injury. He’s appeared in only 15 games this season.
The LNAH trade deadline is set for Tuesday, Jan. 19 and Lalonde, along with assistant GM/head coach Bob Desjardins, are not done yet.
PLEASE NOTE: The 5th round draft pick sent to St-Georges was “future considerations” for the November trade that brought forward Alexandre Touchette to Cornwall.
