Who’s The Fattest Hog on the Sunshine List in Cornwall Ontario for 2015? CLICK

pig feedCORNWALL Ontario – So whose made the most money in Cornwall on this year’s Sunshine list that was just released by the province of Ontario?

The Sunshine list includes those on the public purse who earn more than $100,000 per year.

Mostly health care officials, fire, police, and areas including government agencies.

The tentacles extend fairly widely.

CCH HOSP 1

CCH hospital Chief Jeanette Despatie pulls in a whopping $236,398.67

CCH HOSP 2

CCH CFO Suzanne Dionne pulls down $177,281.14

CCH HOSP 3

Registered Nurse Amie McCosham must have done an awful lot of overtime to pull in $139, 132.06 which is more than Chief of Staff Lorne Scharf earned.

CCH HOSP 4

VP Community Programs Christine Penney took home $138,299.66

CCH HOSP 5

In total there were 59 CCH people on the list.

In total there were 95 names from Police, EMS, and Fire departments on the list this year.

EOHU

EOHU Chantale 1The EOHU had six names on the list including the biggest pay out of the year to Dr. Paul Roumeliotis who slurped up a massive $313,544.77.   He earned nearly 50 % more than the runner up.    I know.  I’m not sure what he does either…. (pictured in centre)

With our city council copping out and not touching budgets except it seems for its Public Art Gallery how does that compare to our neighbors in Brockville?  You’d expect about half the amounts as they have about half our population.

Bkv HOSP 1

BVH only had 24 vs Cornwall’s 59 two salaries over $150K including their Chief Anthony Weeks who pulled down $214,727.39.

There were 52 names on Brock Vegas’ list vs 95 for Cornwall with only two just above the $150K mark.

Is Cornwall getting good value for its tax dollars?  And yes they are ours even if disbursed from Queen’s Park.

What is it exactly that Dr. Paul does that’s worth nearly three times what our CCH Chief of Staff earns?

Do You Think Cornwall is Paying Its Sunshine List Staff Too Much?

  1. Don’t forget the hydro boys and girls. It is nearing the time that honest men must slit a few throats for liberty.

  2. To get top quality people you have to pay top dollar. If not, they’ll go elsewhere.

If nurses, police officers, fire fighters are on the list it may be due to overtime.

To me this list is deceiving. It was created in 1996, which was 18 years ago. $100k in 1996 is not the same as $100k in 2015. The list should be, perhaps, adjusted for the rise in inflation each year.

  3. Pigs at the trough is exactly what they all are and it is the little people who work while those in the upper levels do not do anything but get the credit for the slave work that the little people do. OINK! OINK! Duffy the pig isn’t the only pig at the trough and believe me there are plenty including in the Ontario and Federal Government and we are more than fed up of paying for those pigs.

  4. Hugger nailed it. The “sunshine list” is out of date and almost irrelevant. In 1996 the average family income was about $57,000. The average individual income was $24,000.

Actually in Cornwall we haven’t quite caught up to those numbers sadly…..many of the top earners on our Sunshine list live outside of our city limits. So we pump them the cash and they offshore it in South Stormont and South Glengarry.

  6. Yes Jamie that is true that the vast majority on that sunshine pig list live outside of Cornwall where they pay less taxes and less pollution. Wait until Cornwall is hit with Hydro One if that goes through. I read yesterday that the lower income people cannot afford the utilities. The higher incomes do not give a rat’s behind for Cornwall and they are sucking up everything in Cornwall and leaving after their shifts. Cornwall’s economy is dead.

  7. So, upper management or anyone making over $100k doesn’t work? When I worked for the federal gov’t I saw directors, senior directors, ADM’s and DM’s (some of whom were friends) making a lot more than $100k. BUT I would not want their jobs for twice the money they were making. The responsibilities and crap they had to endure was not worth the extra money.

I can see Admin’s point about paying people who live outside the city. But they are working for us, so they do spend some money here. If they can’t find a house, etc. in the city then at least they are close. It’s not like they’re living in The Big Smoke and commuting from there every day.

  8. $100k in 1996 is now worth $142,340 in 2015 dollars. This supposed “Sunshine List” needs to be updated to reflect the real economy, not one that is 18 years old.

  9. I find the derogatory comments about someone’s salary offensive and senseless. Hugger is right, Jamie you are wrong, and don’t refer to people as hogs You are just jealous.

  10. Jamie hospitals are being hit here in Ottawa and I also read that the tiny town of Almonte Ontario (a very beautiful place to live) is getting hit in their hospital as well. Stores everywhere are closing and people cannot keep up with the rents on businesses nor the very high utility costs. Many people will be put out of work soon and everyone will start seeing that. Oh before I sign off Target had 6 days left and now has 5 days left of its existence. Can you imagine how many people are going to be looking for work across Canada.

  11. Cornwall is so very lucky to have CFN where you can read real news.
But the city is also full of hateful TROLLS like stellabystarlight who now has the nerve to write hateful things about Mr Jamie from behind her HIDDEN identity at the Freeholder.
She used to make many comments on here but now refuses to follow the new rules and tries to blame CFN…disgraceful conduct

  12. I agree with you fully Melman that Jamie brings in good news and I have liked Jamie from the very start and never stopped. I have only read a couple of things that are nasty from Stella and never thought that she/he would come up with those things. There must be 3 Stellas on the paper and wondered who was being schizophrenic. LOL LOL. The toilet papers of record of the freeloader and the other rag that mom tossed away in the garbage without reading it Seaway News what a load of crock those papers are and yes those trolls are all mighty jealous of Jamie. I noticed that someone is using my name along with Hugger’s name and Mary’s. I do not have an account at Seaway News and never have. When you read something that has my name Jules I can assure you that it isn’t me at all.

  13. Jules….hospitals in Ontario have to operate on a balanced budget. They CANNOT operate at a deficit. If they have a deficit it is up to them to correct this situation. Thus, CHEO and the Ottawa Hospital have to cut to balanced their budget. They know the budgetary pattern of the Ontario government. It is up to the hospitals to work within that budgetary pattern and not over forecast their income.

Target isn’t the only store closing. Future Shop is gone now. Sure, some will reopen as Best Buy. But about half of Future shop stores will not reopen.

  14. I find it very offensive that people like to judge, and say that people who make high salaries don’t do any work. 59 of those people on the list work at CCH, and of those, most are nurses WHO WORK THEIR ASSES OFF!

  15. Motherbear as far as nurses are concerned it is one of the hardest jobs out there besides being a doctor of medicine. I am not putting nurses down but I do put down the administration and it is the administration of any job or profession that is sucking the hell out of hospitals and everywhere else. Hugger mentioned about the DM’s and other levels in the federal government and I knew a few and yes they sure do suck around and get the best jobs when they leave. Take a good look a John Baird and he is only one person and the company that he is going to work with is in big trouble as it stands let alone when the likes of John Baird comes in. The little people are the real workers in companies and not the CEO’s that are crashing the companies.

  16. Hugger I knew that Future Shop was going to fold a lot of their stores and when we went in there were very few customers and the staff knew absolutely nothing. We were there some months ago and we ended up buying a TV at Best Buy on Ogilvie Road area. My husband was thinking about going to Future Shop for some parts that he wanted for other things and changed his mind and just in time. United Furniture Warehouse is closed and never came back and they had a sign up that they were closed for good. We purchased a couple of things from them about 3 years ago. Hugger hang on because more and more stores are closing. I see at least 3 downstairs at Billings Bridge and one is the Treat Store. I haven’t been upstairs in months since I went a few times upstairs with my daughter. The escalator is on the blink and I can’t climb very well nor going down. I have arthritis and so has my husband so we stay downstairs.

  18. The budgetary problem facing the hospitals is not the amount paid to nurses but the rather the imbalance between front line and administration. We hear that 50 nurses will be laid off but when do you hear that administration has been cut back? If they continue this avenue of insanity Hospitals will end up as DIY drop in centres where you access the equipment with the assistance of a computer aide.

Funny (sad) that the Wynne Liberals can find money to burn on gas plants, empty office buildings, windmills and solar power, failed e-health systems and air ambulance services, education programs to teach the six sexes and how to have anal intercourse and the list goes on and on, but no money for health care. They collect a head fee ($50 each per month) on top of the astronomical tax already levied and we sit back and believe that we have one of the best health care systems in the world. People really need to travel more or do a little homework. Our system is in bad shape and getting worse at a time when the baby boomers are just about to place the highest demand on care in history. The next twenty years will be a game changer that we have had over 60 years to prepare for. Sadly we chose to do nothing, so get ready to pay big time.

  19. It was only a matter of time before Future Shop closed. With their owner’s ideas on how to market their two brands suspect I’m surprised they lasted this long. I know they originally built Best Buy stores (before they bought FS) near Future Shop to compete. But once they bought Future Shop their first priority should have been to consolidate stores, something they did yesterday all be it twelve years too late.

United Furniture Warehouse is still around, just not in this region.

More stores closing? This surprises you? The way the economy and how companies operate it should surprise no one that stores and chains are closing.

Higher level federal gov’t workers are paid well. But would I want the stress and all that comes with the higher level of pay? I wouldn’t, it’s not worth my health.

Someone earlier said “Pigs at the trough is exactly what they all are and it is the little people who work while those in the upper levels do not do anything but get the credit for the slave work that the little people do.” Little people do get paid big salaries at times. That’s caused by overtime and lack of planning by management. Of course the Ontario government’s attack on the deficit at any cost hasn’t helped. And like I said earlier “$100k in 1996 is now worth $142,340 in 2015 dollars. This supposed “Sunshine List” needs to be updated to reflect the real economy, not one that is 18 years old.”
